Exporting a workflow diagram as an image
Last updated: November 4, 2026
Overview
You can now export the graph view of any workflow as a PNG image directly from the workflow chart. In this article, we'll be covering where to find the export option, what the exported image includes, and when it's available.
Export a workflow diagram as an image
The export option sits in the bottom-left control panel of the workflow chart, next to the toggle that switches between Graph View and JSON Representation. When Graph View is selected, a small chevron appears next to the Graph View icon.
- Open the workflow in the builder, and make sure the chart is in Graph View.
- Click the chevron next to the Graph View icon in the bottom-left control panel.
- Select Export as PNG.
The image downloads automatically as a PNG file, named after the workflow.
What the exported image includes
- The full graph, framed to fit the entire diagram — not just what's currently visible on screen.
- Node titles, inputs, and connections exactly as they appear in the builder.
- A background that matches your current canvas theme, light or dark.
Editor-only elements — such as add-node handles, node menus, and sticky note toolbars — are not included in the exported image.
When export is available
- Export is only available in Graph View. Switch to Graph View using the view toggle if you're currently viewing the JSON Representation.
- The chart must contain at least one node. On an empty chart, the export option is disabled.
If the export fails, you'll see an error message and can try again.
