Overview
gaiia supports keyboard shortcuts across the platform, letting you search, navigate your inbox, reply and edit workflows without reaching for the mouse. This article lists every shortcut currently available, grouped by where it applies, along with the mouse shortcuts built into equipment and inventory fields.
Shortcuts are written with the macOS Command key. On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl wherever Command appears.
Global shortcuts
These work from anywhere in gaiia.
| Command + K | Open the search modal |
| Command + J | Open or close the gaiia assistant panel |
| Esc | Close the current dialog, modal or popover |
Search modal
Once the search modal is open, you can pick a result without leaving the keyboard. The list wraps around, so pressing Up on the first result jumps to the last one.
| Down / Up | Move through the results |
| Enter | Open the highlighted result |
Conversations
The Conversations inbox can be driven entirely from the keyboard. Moving the cursor through the list opens each conversation as you land on it, so the arrow keys both navigate and read. None of these shortcuts use a modifier key, which is what keeps Command + K and Command + J working while you are in the inbox.
These shortcuts are available on desktop layouts. The tablet layout puts the conversation in a separate view and does not use them.
Moving through the list
| Down / Up | Move to the next or previous conversation, opening it |
| Page Down / Page Up | Jump ten conversations down or up the list |
| Home / End | Jump to the first or last loaded conversation |
| Tab | Move between the inbox, the list, the conversation and the details panel |
Holding an arrow key scrolls through the list without opening every conversation it passes over — only the row you stop on is opened and marked as read.
Reading and replying
| Enter | Step into the reply box of the open conversation |
| Down / Up | Scroll the conversation one page at a time, once the conversation itself has focus |
| Esc | Return focus to the conversation list; in the details panel, close the panel |
| Enter | Send the reply, from inside the reply box |
| Shift + Enter | Insert a line break instead of sending |
Enter lands on the conversation instead of the reply box for users without the Conversations > Edit permission, and on conversations that are closed.
Renaming a conversation
| Enter | Save the new title |
| Esc | Cancel the edit and keep the previous title |
Sending messages and prompts
The gaiia assistant panel, the assistant box on the Home page and the workflow code editor's assistant all share the same send keystroke.
| Enter | Send the message or prompt |
| Shift + Enter | Insert a line break instead of sending |
| Alt + Enter | Insert a line break instead of sending |
| Command + Enter | Send the message or prompt |
In rich-text editors — ticket comments, worklogs and notes — Command + Enter submits what you have written.
Workflow editor
The workflow canvas supports the editing shortcuts you would expect, and they apply to both workflow steps and sticky notes. Each shortcut is also listed in the Ellipsis menu of the step or note it applies to.
These shortcuts apply while the canvas itself has focus, and the editing ones only on a workflow you can edit. Click an empty part of the canvas first if a shortcut does not respond.
| Command + Z | Undo |
| Command + Shift + Z | Redo |
| Command + C | Copy the selection |
| Command + V | Paste |
| Command + Shift + V | Paste and replace the selected step |
| Command + D | Duplicate the selection |
| Delete / Backspace | Delete the selection (Backspace on macOS only) |
| Esc | Clear a multiple selection, or cancel adding a sticky note |
| Command + Enter | Apply the template you are previewing in the templates library |
Inside the workflow code editor:
| Command + S | Save your code |
| Command + ; | Open or close the code assistant |
| Esc | Close the code assistant, or stop a request in progress |
Attachment preview
| Left / Right | Move to the previous or next attachment |
| Esc | Close the preview |
Platform shortcuts
Equipment and inventory fields — equipment cards, ports, IP blocks and linked devices — can be copied straight from the page.
| Click | Copy the field's content (where applicable) |
| Shift + Click | Copy the field's content without punctuation or special characters; useful for values containing colons, dashes or slashes |
| Click | Open a contextual window, on underlined text |
