Overview
This module allows you to set your taxation rates for a given geographic area. Once configured, taxes are automatically applied to the debit (product) with the corresponding criteria.
Create taxes
There are two levels of detail available when assigning taxation rates:
- Tax Group
- Zone within a Tax Group
To add a tax group, go to Admin > Billing > Taxes > Click the country > Create tax group > In the modal, add a name and translation > Create.
Tax groups can currently only have taxation rates in the percentage of the debit (product) assigned to a geographical area (physical address of the customer). The area type of your choice can be defined (Country, State, County, City, Zip code) to allow all the granularity you need. To know which taxes will apply, gaiia looks if the physical address matches any tax zone.
To add a zone to a tax group, go to Admin > Billing > Taxes > Click the country > Click the tax group > Create a tax zone > In the modal, add a name, a percentage, an area and a translation > Create.
Edit taxes
Taxes can be edited by clicking the ellipsis menu of a tax group or a tax zone.
To edit a tax group, go to Admin > Billing > Taxes > Click the country > Click the ellipsis menu of the tax group > Edit.
To edit a tax zone, go to Admin > Billing > Taxes > Click the country > Click a tax group > Click the ellipsis menu of the tax zone > Edit.
Tip: Taxes are calculated the moment the debits are created. So changing taxes will not affect previously created transactions, but it will affect all future ones.
Delete taxes
Taxes can be deleted by clicking the ellipsis menu of a tax group or a tax zone and selecting delete.
To delete a tax group, go to Admin > Billing > Taxes > Click the country > Click the ellipsis menu of the tax group > Delete.
To delete a tax zone, go to Admin > Billing > Taxes > Click the country > Click a tax group > Click ellipsis menu of the tax zone > Delete.
