Overview
In this article, we’ll review what Travel Times are, how they’re calculated, and how they can benefit you!
What are Travel Times?
Travel Times are just as they sound. The projected time it’ll take for a technician in the field to travel to a job. They’ll appear in a blue block with a truck icon before and after a scheduled job.
The travel time feature was designed to simplify the role of a dispatcher, enabling them to schedule work orders in a variety of locations while taking into account local traffic.
How are Travel Times calculated?
gaiia’s software is integrated with MapBox, a custom online mapping software which allows us to provide real-time estimates. For example, if you drag an order and move it from 10 am to 3 pm, the travel times will readjust based on the prior work order, the future work order(s) and local traffic patterns.
The travel time to subsequent works orders are based on the assumption that the technician will stay at the previous work order.
Where can I see the actual Travel Time?
While the Travel Times on the schedule only appear in 15-minute increments on the schedule blocks, on the Work Order Card (click on Work Order time block on the schedule, it’ll show a prompt), you’ll be able to view the exact Travel Time.
You are not able to have two Work Orders overlapping, but you can have a Work Order within the travel time of another one.
