Overview
In this article, we’ll be covering how to create a Snowflake account, set up users, and request access to the data dictionary. The process is straightforward, but there are a few timing and access details you’ll want to be aware of.
Creating your Snowflake account
To get started, you’ll need Admin Snowflake permission enabled in your settings.
- Go to the Snowflake Settings section.
- Click the large Create Account button.
- A message will appear letting you know the setup can take up to 15 minutes.
- If your instance takes longer than 15 minutes, contact gaiia support for assistance.
You do not need to refresh the page while the account is being created—your account link will automatically appear once ready.
Accessing your Snowflake account
Once your account is created, you’ll see a unique URL. You can copy this link or click it to go directly to your Snowflake login page.
- From the login page, create users for your account.
- Enter the user’s First Name, Last Name, and Email address.
- The system sends them an invitation email with a link.
- When they click the link, they’re prompted to reset their password and then log in.
Requesting access to the data dictionary
The data dictionary is maintained in a Notion page but access is granted through gaiia. To view it, users must request access from our team.
- Submit a request for data dictionary access through gaiia.
- Once approved, our team will manually add you to the page.
- You’ll then receive the link giving you access to documentation and data point definitions.
The data dictionary provides reference documentation and details about every data point currently available.
