Overview

Gaiia supports free-text introductory rate descriptions on Broadband Facts labels. This allows you to clearly display multi-step pricing that changes across multiple periods.

Use this option when your pricing cannot be expressed as a single rate and duration.

Understand introductory rate options

When configuring a service plan with an introductory rate, gaiia provides two options under Introductory rate type:

  • Default introductory rate and duration — Enter a single promotional price and duration in months. Use this when your pricing follows a single-tier structure (for example, $60/month for 12 months).
  • Not-standard value (not defined by FCC) — Enter a free-text description for multi-step pricing (for example, different prices across multiple years).

The default option is recommended whenever possible. It ensures alignment with FCC machine-readable requirements.

Configure a multi-step introductory rate

Follow these steps to configure a free-text introductory rate:

  1. Go to Products > Broadband Facts and open the label.
    Click on Edit label version.
  2. Under Monthly price, enable Service plan includes an introductory rate.
  3. In Introductory rate type, select Not-standard value (not defined by FCC).
  4. Enter your pricing structure in Introductory rate description.
This text is displayed exactly as written on the label.
  5. Click Save or publish the label.

When using this option, the introductory rate is stored as text and does not follow the FCC’s standard data format. Confirm with your compliance team if machine-readable accuracy is required.

How multi-step pricing appears on the label

The content entered in Introductory rate description is displayed exactly as written on the published Broadband Facts label.

You can include multiple phases and line breaks for clarity.

Example:

  • Year 1 $60
  • Year 2 $80
  • Then $100 retail

Use the Preview view to verify how the description appears before publishing.

Impact on FCC data exports

The FCC schema expects introductory pricing as a single numeric rate and duration. When using a free-text description:

  • The export includes the description as text.
  • Structured introductory rate fields are not used.
  • The export does not strictly conform to FCC standards for that plan.

You can switch back to Default introductory rate and duration at any time if needed.
