Overview

In this article, we’ll cover Promo Codes, how to create them, and how your customers can use them during Checkout.

What is a Promo Code?

A Promo Code is a code that offers a promotional discount that your customers can use when they’re going through the checkout. These promotional discounts can vary from a few dollars off for the first few months, or even having your first month free.

Creating a Promo Code

To create a Promo Code, you’ll want to go to the Promo Codes area within the Products module. From there, click on + New Code in the top left corner.

From here, you’ll be able to enter the General Details of your promo code. By default, you can only include one promo code for this. An example would be 6MONTHDISCOUNT.

If you toggle the checkbox on, you’ll be able to enter multiple codes, up to a max of 1000, that can be entered to receive the same promotional discount.

Once you have the general details filled in, you’ll then have to link a discount product to it. To understand how to create a discount, read Creating a Discount.

Once you have the discount created, go ahead and click the drop-down menu and select the discount.

Review the contents of your Promo Code on the right-hand side in the Details box, and ensure everything is correct. Once that’s done, go ahead and click Create promo code. Once the Promo Code is created, it will appear on the main page of the Promo Codes and begin tracking usage.

Applying a Promo Code

Once you have the Promo Code created, customers can start using it. Once they reach the Payment step of the checkout, they can enter a Promo Code. You can only enter one promo code here.

At this time, it isn’t possible to retroactively enter a Promo Code into a customer’s account. However, you can manually add the discount to the customer’s account instead.

Since the Discount product assigned to a Promo Code has to be within the Coverage Area of the customer to work, if a customer attempts to use one outside of their Coverage Area, the Promo Code will be considered invalid.

Additionally, Discount products assigned to a Promo Code must also be configured within any Property/MDU where you would like the Promo Code to work.
